Brett Lee put in a barnstorming display with bat and ball as New South Wales beat Trinidad & Tobago by 41 runs in the inaugural Champions League final.

New South Wales were tottering at 83-6 before Lee (48) and Steven Smith (33) put on 49 for the seventh wicket and led the Australian side to 159-9.

But Lee took 2-10 and Stuart Clark 3-21 as the Caribbean outfit were dismissed for 118 in 15.5 overs.

New South Wales captain Simon Katich said the experience the tournament provided for young cricketers was invaluable.

"A lot of our young guys have had the chance to play on a world stage and show what they are capable of," said Katich, whose side pocketed a winner’s cheque of $2.5m (£1.53m).
