Dailey wins two tennis titles – Out-of-Door Academy …

Caroline Dailey is just a freshman, but don’t tell that to the rest of the competition at the Class 1A state tennis tournament in Altamonte Springs.

The Out-of-Door Academy student defeated Nadia Rajita of American Heritage 6-3, 4-3 (ret.) Friday to win the overall singles title.

Dailey then teamed with ODA senior Michelle Ramos to win the individual doubles title 6-1, 6-3 over sisters Chelsea Motie and Jana Motie of Westshore.

Dailey and Ramos lost to Jerica Coley and Julia Jones of St. Petersburg Catholic 7-5, 7-5 for the overall doubles title, a hard-fought match that included a short rain delay.

“They had a phenomenal season,” coach Noel Dougherty said. “Michelle is a six-year varsity athlete. … Caroline plays a real exciting, aggressive game.”

Dailey won the individual singles title Thursday, a feat she also accomplished last year. But Dougherty said she was happy Dailey was able to add the overall title this time around.
